8 of Cups, Page of Pentacles, 6 of Cups

Hi friend, welcome to my kitchen table. I hope wherever and whenever you are that you are able to find whatever peace you can, and feel how much you are loved—and you are always loved and welcomed here. Let’s take a look at these cards, and remember that they won’t be for everyone, but even if there is no resonance I’m glad that you’re here.

The 8 of cups is a card of walking away from something that doesn’t serve you or align with your values. This could be something big like a job or a relationship, a club or affiliation, even a long-held belief system or spiritual practice. It could also be something small and seemingly surface—like switching to a cruelty-free makeup brand, finding a local coffee shop instead of supporting a national chain, or wearing what makes you comfortable instead of what is fashionable. At the core, this indicates knowing thyself. Are you listening to your values, preferences, wants, and needs—or are you letting something else override your intuition out of convenience, to keep others happy, or because “we’ve always done it this way”? In the image the person is walking away from a fiery bowl meant to contain water, because they know trying to drink fire will only burn their lips off. You do not need to cause yourself discomfort or  harm to keep others satisfied or be worthy of respect or love, and you are allowed to create change and do things differently. When it comes to more high-stakes situations like jobs or relationships, it can be relatively easy to recognize the need to leave but much more difficult to do so in a material way. To everything there is an exit cost, but what you have left over will purchase the ticket to the place you actually want and need to be. The page of pentacles indicates that new opportunity beckons you away from those cups for something more grounded and stable, if you aren’t kept from seeing it. Don’t ignore signs when they’re pointing you toward your dreams. To manifest something new or better, you first need to allow yourself to think about it and integrate it into possibility; then you can get on with the journey of making it real. Giving yourself this space empowers you to let the 8 of cups be a distant footnote and allows you to get in touch with your younger self, the one who perhaps found it easier to believe in goodness and potential, or with people from your past who hold these qualities. Even when the present seems a little blah—or a lot blah depending on the nature of your 8 of cups—looking back with fondness and gratitude will bring those energies into your current life. As well as seeing how much has changed, you will appreciate the qualities—within you, or something/something close to you—that have remained consistent and comforting or gotten better over time. Moving forward through life away from a future of harm could mean returning to something familiar and accepting and creating it anew. No matter what place or thing you must leave behind or what journey awaits, you are the only you there is. Gratitude for everything around you will grow even more when you can find gratitude for yourself and everything that you are. The overview I take from these cards is that no matter how big or small the situation, walking away from something that is doing you harm will put you on a path towards fulfilling your dreams and reconnecting with the good in your life.

Love and light to you, and remember, you are always welcome at my kitchen table. -KTT 🌻💛
