Six of Cups, Page of Pentacles, Page of Swords
Hello friend, and welcome back to my kitchen table. I hope today finds you in good spirits, but don’t despair if you are not; life is a winding road and we are never in one place for too long. In any case, you are always welcome to rest here a moment with me. The cards I pull daily are exactly what comes out, no reshuffles or trying for another card, and I present what I find with gratitude for whoever may need these words right now or in the future.
To introduce this reading, I have to tell you how much I laughed when the first two cards came out. This deck was shuffled several times after yesterday’s reading and in between each card of this draw! If I hadn’t had this happen to me in my own personal daily reads, I don’t think I’d have believed it! I really wouldn’t have been surprised if the 8 of cups had put in an encore appearance, which to me would have signified an energetic loop (getting stuck in a cycle of behavior despite trying to break free), but we got the page of Swords, which remixes it and puts an emphasis on acquiring knowledge to serve your dreams and goals. It may not look or come out radically differently than yesterday’s read—I see it as viewing that reading from another angle, or highlighting a possibility, and both of those things have value.
I like to think of tarot reads as energetic weather monitoring. Even the weather forecasts we see on the news aren’t predictions you can count on; it’s more of an idea of what’s possible, allowing the viewer to plan accordingly. It never hurts to bring an umbrella, even if it doesn’t end up raining. But it’s important not to put too much stock in it. The anticipation of a cloudless, sunny day perfect for a ten mile hike might turn into a bitter mood when a monsoon keeps you stuck at home. As with meteorological reports, tarot reads must be taken with an open mind and the knowledge that nothing is set in stone. Free will can make even the surest possibility into a gamble, so be sure to temper your expectations and take even what resonates most strongly with a grain of salt. The only thing within your control at any given moment is you. You decide how to react, how to express yourself, where you go and what you do, and how to take advice or guidance on board. You are responsible for navigating yourself through the free will of others, regardless of their decisions and how they might affect you. This doesn’t mean shutting yourself down emotionally, but moving with caution through all interactions. With all of this in mind, let’s take a look at these cards.
The six of cups, as touched on yesterday, is a card of looking back, but in a pleasant way—warm memories, sweet recollections, and fond nostalgia. We can see how far we’ve come, take note of changes and consistency, and see how fortunate we are to have these cups of love and abundance that have grown with us, indicating how much we have received and can be grateful for, even if some of those blessings are no longer in our physical daily lives anymore, like: loved ones who have passed on, old workplaces or schools, past teams or social groups, or something you grew up with that isn’t made anymore—or a state of being that we literally cannot return to, like being a child again. With yesterday’s read in mind, I see this as a reminder that the past cannot be lived in, which is why I expressed the return to something familiar as being created anew. If you want the exact same thing again, then it’s possible to get stuck in idealistic longing. In this case the Page of Pentacles is an invitation to put down the daydream and get back on the path to fulfilling a different dream that is more in your control. I also take this as a reminder not to put all your nostalgia eggs in one basket. If you have reached out to someone from your past recently—old friends or colleagues, family members, etc., etc.—but not heard anything back, don’t jump to conclusions. Carry on with any new plans or opportunities and leave space for possibility; let yourself be excited about where life is taking you. You can’t stay still waiting for that connection when there’s so much else you could be doing to build your best existence and bring your ideas to life.
To that end, the Page of Swords backs up that new beginning/new pathway energy and increases the importance of these new ventures. The enthusiasm and big dreams of the Page of Pentacles complements the eager curiosity of the Page of Swords. To do things, you must know things—so what is it you need to know? Follow your intellectual interests down rabbit holes and you might learn more than you anticipated. Be open to collaboration and connection with others in the pursuit of your new pathway or goal. Keep the welcome mat out in the event that past energies do reach out, but don’t stake your life on it. You have too much to do and good to uncover to be stopped by wistful yearning. What’s yours will come back; if it’s not for you, then you haven’t lost, because you will reap the rewards of continuing to follow your passions and make something out of your life instead of waiting around for something that may not materialize.
Thank you for being here. If this resonated, I hope you found some guidance; if it wasn’t for you, I’m still very glad you’re here. You are special and loved, and remember, you are always welcome at my kitchen table. -KTT 🌻💛
