King of Cups, 9 of Cups, 2 of Cups
Hello, friend ♥️ today i bring you a whole bunch of cups and the love that goes into them. I hope that wherever you are, and whatever time of day this finds you, that you are able to feel at peace and rest as best as you can. If this is for you, i hope it adds clarity to your life. If not, thank you for being here as well.
The King of Cups is a figure that represents emotional balance and control. In the context of this short passage overall, it feels to be representing an actual person. It could also represent a group or social scene that just feel like “your people,” who may collectively embody these qualities. The serenity and kindness they possess is the result of growth and maturity through experience and years. The energy indicates this is someone who has processed their major heartbreaks and come through with an appreciation for the dark that defines the light. This is not to say they want to go through more tribulations, but they know how to handle it and learn from it rather than shoving it down or lashing out. They feel deeply, but don’t wild out in their passions. This energy deserves respect but does not demand it, and there is a sense of safety in their presence because they can be trusted to observe the boundaries of others and never cross them.
The sense of safety is accompanied by a sense of bounty and luxury—no matter the actual material reality. Like the song Royals by Lorde, it doesn’t matter what you have—the true riches are found in connection with people who get you and share your values and vision of the world. Even if you have to scrounge up money to take the train to a party, you’re experiencing it with people who vibe right with you. Like just about everything in life, though, this requires balance. Trying to carry that many cups alone, which you may be tempted to do as not to “overburden” the kind, admirable soul(s) in your life, could be disastrous. Instead of enjoying the emotional wealth of balanced companionship, you might panic and try to run, afraid of losing yourself in this love. Perhaps you are afraid of what commitment means based upon past unsuccessful relationships or social groups, holding on to the trauma of those experiences. An underlying sense of not actually feeling safe could contribute to tripping and spilling your blessings.
It can be hard work to get there, but accepting that you deserve good things and are worthy of love is the step you must take towards being in balance with this King of Cups figure/group. They won’t “fix” whatever you might think is wrong or insufficient in you, but if you let their light shine on your good qualities instead of downplaying them with false modesty, you’ll begin to see your capabilities and trust in your ability to safely carry such abundance. This will move you into the balance of unity represented by the two of cups. The hands in this image are level, and together, they create enough for both of their cups to be full. It might be tempting to put people on pedestals, but if they’ve chosen to be with you or welcome you into their ranks, then you are safe to trust that you are in balanced company. The love you give to others is the love you are worthy of giving yourself and it’s okay if that takes time. Just be sure to communicate clearly with those around you to keep it harmonious.
Thank you for spending some of your day with me, friend. You are loved and powerful, and remember, you are always welcome at my kitchen table. -KTT 🌻💛
