2 of Swords, Page of Pentacles, Temperance
Hello, friend, and welcome to my kitchen table. I hope that wherever and whenever you are, you feel good, loved, and in possession of yourself—if this is not the case, know that I want these things for you. You are worthy of the life you have been given and deserve to enjoy the uniqueness of you! ♥️ This reading is general and if it resonates, I hope I may be of service. If it does not resonate, thank you for being here, too.
The 2 of Swords indicates some overthinking, possibly over two options or a decision, enough that it’s causing a stalemate. In the image we see two corvids pulling at the person’s hair, causing tangles and confusion. In the case of a decision, this could be equally-weighted pros and cons, or a magnification that leaves everything looking more complicated and messy than it really is. Positioned at the start of this spread, it’s not beyond help—yet. The figure is turned around by their blindfold, not looking toward the future, but they are at least trying to free themselves. The sand pouring from their hand speaks to a shifting, temporary nature—so if a decision is to be made, it’s time to stop dithering. The energy around it is still small potatoes and will be overcome easily. Well, maybe not “easily,” but it’s better than letting it escalate to a 9 of Swords. Overthinking will just make the birds churn more at your hair, so bite the bullet, pull the blindfold off, and turn to evaluate the next stage of your life: something that gives you reason to be excited and enthusiastic. It’s cliche and impractical to say “follow your bliss” or “do what makes you happy,” but you’ll do a lot more good when you’re genuinely stoked about what you’re doing. If the situation presenting a 2 of Swords is a choice between the job you have—which makes you wake up with a sense of dread that follows you all day long—and putting a solid effort into a new venture that isn’t guaranteed to fly but aligns with your values and passions, following the excitement will do far more for you than staying where the money’s good but going to work makes you want to die. Using this example, the less stable looking option is the one more likely to come through and resolve the misery felt in the old job, which by itself will make up for the potential financial hit. This choice may not be career related; this is just an example. Whatever the situation, breaking free is for your ultimate good, no matter what the naysayers say—which would be “nay.” You are allowed to say “yea” to your one wild and precious life (this iteration of it, anyway!).
Temperance here is an assurance that looking ahead and going for what you want—or leaving a toxic situation to pursue your highest good—will bring more balance to your life. Temperance is like the lull before the storm, a pocket of quiet introspection and a breather to prepare before the next challenging devil puts in an appearance. The short sequence here allows you to see that the potential outcome of following the road less traveled—the one you want to explore, but which certain people in your life wish to discourage, mostly for appearance’s sake—can move you to a state of balance in your own way. Contentedness/finding your alignment does not look the same for everyone. If your state of being leaves you fulfilled, then that’s what matters. If you are taking care of yourself and living for you while still engaging with the world and doing better for it than when whatever has you in 2 of Swords energy, then it’s time to block out the haters and do what you want to do. What this looks like for you will vary by circumstances, of course, but you are worth pursuing what you truly love, even if it feels big or impossible or misunderstood. You can find your way, but it means choosing yourself.
Thank you for being here, and I hope you find clarity, understanding, and encouragement in this message. Remember that you are loved, and you are always welcome at my kitchen table. -KTT 🌻💛
