7 of Wands, 3 of Wands, 2 of Cups
Hello friend, and welcome to my kitchen table. I channel these messages humbly through the wisdom of spirit and the collective consciousness and urge you to listen to yourself first. If this reading resonates with you, I hope that it brings you some clarity and perspective. If none of it sounds familiar, don’t try to make it fit—but I’m glad you’re here, too. Let’s get to these cards.
The 7 of Wands often represents self-defense. In this particular card, the figure is in a meditative pose within a protective bubble, suggesting that their sense of mental clarity is bringing them peace and putting up a barrier against the offensive blows from the wands seeking to bring them down. I call this the “blocking out the haters” card because it often shows up when someone is starting to overcome a struggle and believe in themselves—and the people around them are rushing to tear them apart. Destructive criticism often comes from a place of deep insecurity and a desire to ascend, but rather than build themselves up, a hater will attempt to pull others down. It’s cheap, easy, and in vulnerable enough company, thoroughly effective. The 7 of Wands is here to show that you are capable of standing your ground against this kind of negativity. Perhaps the people in your social or work circles—even your family, whether biological or found—are threatened by your progress or betterment. Rather than take that cue to celebrate you and improve themselves, their own lack of self-worth calls them to devalue you or attempt to thwart both the success you are experiencing and still to come. This is a time to take a deep breath (or several) and reinforce your intentions. The negativity of the insecure is amplified and may at times drown out your quiet inner knowing, so draw that bubble around you and pay their pettiness no mind.
The 3 of Wands invites you to expand on your accomplishments and strengthen your boundaries by preparing for future stages and goals. Like the surfer on the card you are surveying the scene and gauging what you’re up against. You have the right equipment for the situation, but you still need to use your knowledge to plan your approach. Take the time to honestly assess yourself and what you are facing. This is your journey, and nobody knows you and what you want and need like you do. You have been successful thus far—which is what rouses the haters to attack your sense of self—so trust in what you have achieved. You know where you’re going, and anyone who would discourage you in order to prop themselves up is not a friend. There is growth waiting to happen, and especially here it indicates an opportunity to pursue something to do with union and balanced partnership. This could be unity with yourself or with another, whether friendly, romantic, or both. The surfer on the 3 of Wands is looking right at the hands on the 2 of Cups, suggesting to me that the chosen path leads to emotional balance and fulfillment. The hands are equal and intertwined, combining forces to produce the rainbows filling the cups. There is genuine connection out there, and with the surfer looking out on the ocean this is bringing to my mind the song Love Like Waves by Friendly Fires. The overall message these cards impart to me is that you should live for yourself and wrest control of your situation from anyone trying to undermine your sense of self-possession. Wherever it is you want to go, you can’t let the opinions of others hold you back. Use your discernment to separate the wheat (constructive feedback, genuine concerns) from the chaff (destructive criticism, petty meddling). No matter how much planning and careful consideration you give the surf, you still have to take the plunge; you won’t find the rainbows/emotional balance waiting for you until you take a chance on yourself. Naysayers will always say nay, but you can defy them by saying yes to you and what brings you fulfillment, even if it’s unpopular with those around you.
Thank you again for being here, and I wish all the love and light in the world to you on your life’s journey. When you listen to your intuition and your heart you will find the way, but I hope that I have provided a little light on that path. Remember that you are special, loved, and always always welcome at my kitchen table. -KTT 🌻💛
